An original hand colored print titled: Preussen. Husaren, Stabsoffizier, Subalternoffizier, Husaren-Regiment von Zieten. 1775. It is Band I, Plate 13, Uniformenkunde Gesamtverzeichnis no. 680, from the Uniformenkunde series of 1060 plates created by Richard Knotel to illustrate world uniforms from the 17th century to just prior to WWI. This parade dress officer's uniform worn by the von Zieten hussars is one of the most unique, colorful, and iconic uniforms of Frederick the Great's army. Frederick the Great created it as the 2nd Hussar Regiment, and in 1743 it adopted the distinctive tiger-skin pelisse for their parade uniforms, with company officers wearing fur caps with heron feathers and field officers using an eagles's wing.
The plate is from the original 1890 printing by Max Babenzien in Rathenow.
The condition is as shown in the product images which are photographs of the actual plate. The plate is in good condition with some yellowing and wear. There is a small tear in the upper left corner.
