An original hand colored print titled: Preussen. Trompeter, Husar, Husaren-Regiment von Gocking. 1792. It is Band VII, Plate 57, Uniformenkunde Gesamtverzeichnis no. 709, from the Uniformenkunde series of 1060 plates created by Richard Knotel to illustrate world uniforms from the 17th century to just prior to WWI.
This regiment (Husaren-Regiment No. 5) is one of the most popular and well-known regiments in Frederick the Great's army because of its black uniform and death's head insignia. The regiment was created by Frederick the Great in 1741 and were also known as the "Black Hussars" and the "Death's-Head Hussars" ("Totenkopf Husaren") in addition to bearing the name of the regimental commander.
The plate is from the original 1895 printing by Max Babenzien in Rathenow.
The condition is as shown in the product images which are photographs of the actual plate. The plate is in good condition. There are the remains of four glue spots on the back where the plate was glued to a backing at some point.
